For PartnersA Treasure Hunt for Your Town, Built With Your Tourist Center
A game that shows visitors the places you want them to see. Your tourist information center tells us what the town should say about itself. We walk the streets, write the questions, and build a TerraHunt® game that visitors play on their own phones, any day of the year.
Outdoors for families, indoors when it rains. Nový Bor has Treasure Hunt Nový Bor with 25 treasures. Kaplice has two: Treasure Hunt Kaplice with 20 treasures on a fixed route through the historic center, and the indoor story game Tajemství strážců Kaplice for bad weather.
- A game built with your tourist center around the places you want visitors to see
- Visitors play on their own phones, any day of the year, with no staff needed
- An indoor story game as the rainy-day variant, the way Kaplice has it with Tajemství strážců Kaplice
Why a Town Builds Its Own Game
Tourist information centers come to us with the same request: a program that gives visitors a reason to walk through the town and learn something on the way. A treasure hunt does that with the places you already have. The glass museum, the lookout, the square with the fountain: each becomes a treasure with a question.
Towns use it for two opposite reasons. A town with few visitors makes a stay more attractive and gives people a reason to stay longer. A town with too many visitors spreads them out: instead of everyone standing in front of the same church, castle, or square, the game sends them to the lesser-known corners of the town or the region, with questions and tasks along the way.
The visitor does the walking, the app does the guiding. No printed trail, no guide to schedule. A family picks up the code at the information center, opens the app, and finds the town on its own.
What We Build for You
An outdoor treasure hunt with around 25 treasures in the center and the near surroundings, each tied to a landmark, a story, or a piece of local history. That is 1.5 to 2 hours of play for a family or a group of friends, with children from about 10 years.
Or a Mystery Trail with a fixed route. Treasure Hunt Kaplice has 20 treasures in the historic center and the near surroundings, but players see only the next point on the map, so they never know where the route takes them. That suits a town that wants visitors to follow one path.
An indoor story game as the second variant. For Kaplice we built Tajemství strážců Kaplice, a short fairy-tale game that parents and children play inside when the weather is bad. The outdoor game and the indoor one share the town, the app, and the results page.
Both run on visitors’ own phones. The TerraHunt® app is free on iOS and Android; the game starts with a code you hand out or print.
How Visitors Play
- They scan one QR code at the kiosk of your information center and install the TerraHunt® app on their own phone. The game is free for visitors or sold for a symbolic fee; that is your choice, and the game works the same either way.
- They walk the town, find the treasures, and answer the questions. Photo tasks and the live score keep children going to the last treasure.
- At the finish they see the results page with their ranking and photos. Most tourist centers run one game all year; it can also run only on the dates you choose, such as festivals, holidays, or public events.
How the Cooperation Works
- We talk through what the game should say. Which type of game, which monuments and stories, what you want visitors to take away from your town.
- Our creator walks the town and prepares as many questions as the route needs.
- We enter the game into the system and hand it to you for checking, so that it says exactly what you had in mind.
- We fine-tune the game after your review and launch it.
You can leave the content entirely to us. Then we choose what we find interesting, what looks good, and what we think visitors will enjoy. A clear brief from you makes that part easier and lets us fit the game to your needs faster.
Count on three months from the first meeting. Outside the peak of the event season we can deliver the game within a month.
In Nový Bor it went like this: two of our game creators met the director of the local tourist center in spring, photographed the town, and built 25 treasures in the center and its surroundings. The game was tested in May, piloted at a private event for residents in June, and then opened to the public together with the town.
What You Get From Us
- The game with questions, photo tasks, and local history, tested on site and kept up to date.
- The platform: iOS and Android apps for visitors, a web admin for your team, tutorials in English and Czech.
- A bilingual game: Czech and English as standard; a border town that wants visitors from next door can add their language by agreement.
- Your own account on the TerraHunt platform with access to the game, so your team can edit questions and add treasures. If you would rather not, you order a maintenance plan from us, yearly or every two years, for a symbolic fee.
- Promotion of the game on our platforms and social networks, and a listing among our other GPS games.
- Corporate events in your town, if you want them: with Nový Bor we agreed that we also offer the game to our corporate clients as a team building event, which brings groups to the town and spreads the word. Other partners run their game purely on their own. Both work for us.
Where It Already Works
Treasure Hunt Nový Bor takes visitors through the glassmaking town: the Glass Museum, the Václav Havel bench, the Glass Tree, the playground, and the Jelení skok lookout. Questions written with the tourist center carry short history notes for those who want more. Visitors play with family or friends on their own phones, and companies book it as a private event with our tablets and instructors.
Kaplice has two games from us. Treasure Hunt Kaplice leads families with children along a fixed route with 20 treasures in the historic center and nearby, one point at a time. Tajemství strážců Kaplice is the short indoor fairy-tale game for rainy days.
“A treasure hunt in your own town is, for me, a great support for tourism: one more unusual activity for visitors, who get to know the town in a fun, competitive way.” Jiri Zmidloch, Z‑AGENCY
Case study: Treasure Hunt Nový Bor
The tourist center of Nový Bor wanted a program that opens the town’s glassmaking history to visitors. Our two game creators walked the town with the center’s director, built 25 treasures in the center and its surroundings, tested the game in May, and piloted it at a private event for residents in June. The town then launched it for the public. Visitors play on their own phones; companies book it as a private event with our instructors.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many visitors can play?
There is no limit. Everyone plays on their own phone, on the same day or at any time during the season you choose.
Is the game free for visitors?
That is your decision. Most tourist centers offer the year-round game for free; some sell it for a symbolic fee. The game works the same either way: one QR code at your kiosk, the app on the visitor’s phone.
Our town is already crowded. Why add a game?
To spread the visitors out. The route leads to the lesser-known places of the town or the region, so people do not all stand in front of the same castle or square. A town with few visitors uses the same game the other way around: to make a stay longer and more attractive.
Do we need staff to run the game?
No. Your information center hands out the code and the app explains the rest. A company that wants a team building event in your town books it with our instructors and tablets.
Who writes the questions?
Our creators, after talking with you. You tell us which monuments, stories, and messages matter; we walk the town and write the questions. Before the launch you check every one of them, and we fine-tune the game after your review.
How long does it take to build the game?
Plan at least three months ahead. Outside the peak of the event season we can deliver within a month. A clear brief from you speeds everything up; if you prefer, you can leave the content entirely to us.
What happens when it rains?
An indoor story game takes over. For Kaplice we built Tajemství strážců Kaplice, a short fairy-tale game that families play inside. We can add one to your outdoor game as well.
Who keeps the game up to date?
That is a matter of agreement. You get your own account on the TerraHunt platform with access to the game, so your team edits questions and adds treasures itself. Or you order a maintenance plan from us for a symbolic fee, once a year or once every two years.
Does the game bring visitors, or only serve those already in town?
Both, if you want. Visitors in town get a reason to walk further, and with Nový Bor we also bring our corporate clients to the town for team building events. Other partners run their game purely on their own.
In which languages can visitors play?
We build the game in Czech and translate it into English, so visitors get a bilingual game. That is the pair we recommend. Any other language is a matter of agreement: a town on a border that wants to reach visitors from the neighboring country can have the game in their language too.
From what age can children play?
The outdoor game suits children from about age 10, once they read well. A fairy-tale game tuned for younger children works from about age 8, with a parent reading the questions aloud.
