The Greenest and Best City in the World: Vienna

In 2020, the renowned Canadian-American agency, which closely studies about a hundred world metropolises, ranked Vienna as the greenest city in the world in the 'The World's 10 Greenest Cities 2020' list. Moreover, Vienna has earned the title of 'Best City in the World' for the tenth consecutive year, where the quality of life is assessed including public green spaces, renewable energy use, air quality, and public transportation. What makes Vienna so great?

Vienna’s Parks

Throughout Vienna, there are an astonishing 990 city parks. Among the most famous are the following six.

Schönbrunn Palace Park

Not only for history lovers, the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace Park, along with the entire palace complex, is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Augarten

This historical garden from the 17th century is the oldest preserved Baroque complex in Vienna. Here, you can find thousands of rare European and exotic plants.

Belvedere Gardens

A complex of three unique structures – Upper Belvedere, Lower Belvedere, and Belvedere 21 – offers you the opportunity to explore over 300-year-old gardens with their exceptional garden architecture.

City Park

The fourth place worth mentioning is the expansive City Park, covering 95,931 square meters. Dating back to 1862, it is filled with picturesque meadows, water bodies, ornamental shrubs, and mature alley trees.

Note, dogs are not allowed in the park. It is an ideal place for hosting your Treasure Hunt team building activity.

Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna

Another green jewel of Vienna is the Botanical Garden of the local University of Vienna. It is located right next to the aforementioned Belvedere Gardens.

It houses more than 11,500 plant species from six continents. Interestingly, in the garden, you can see more than a hundred species of coniferous trees.

Volksgarten Park

The last green location in Vienna we mention is Volksgarten Park. It was ceremonially opened in 1823. The imperial family had it entirely built for the residents of Vienna. The park is open all year round.

Thank you for organizing the Treasure Hunt in Mikulov. I have not a single complaint about the organization. The event was perfectly prepared and this type of game draws in even the less active participants.
