Zaječí and Přítluky: What to See Below Pálava

Wineries, the Maják lookout tower and quiet Přítluky: what to see in Zaječí below Pálava, plus how Treasure Hunt Zaječí links both villages for families and teams.

If you’re looking for things to do in Zaječí, plan on neighboring Přítluky too. Both villages sit below Pálava by the Nové Mlýny reservoirs, and the same wine country ties them together. In one day you can fit in the U Kapličky winery, the Zajíci ze Zaječí family winery, the Maják lookout tower and the village green in Přítluky. And if you’d rather explore the vineyards with a task in hand, there’s Treasure Hunt Zaječí, which runs through both villages at once.

The Villages in Numbers

We only give numbers about the Zaječí game where we stand behind them. The number of treasures deliberately isn’t one of them: for planning a trip, what matters more is how long the game takes and how it plays out in the field.

More treasures don’t mean a longer day. The team decides whether to head to the wineries first or up to Maják, and more treasures mostly mean more room for strategy.

  • Game length: like all our games, Treasure Hunt Zaječí keeps a team busy for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Treasures unlock within a radius of roughly 10 to 40 meters, depending on the terrain and the character of the spot.
  • We’ve been running Treasure Hunts since 2013.
  • The game is backed by 16+ years of experience with corporate events.
  • The route links Zaječí and Přítluky into one shared game.

What Stands Out

The strongest impression here doesn’t come from any single landmark; it comes from the landscape. Rows of vines on gentle slopes, the limestone ridge of Pálava above them, the surface of the reservoirs below.

Wine cellar lanes are as much a part of the local rhythm as the vineyards. On weekdays they’re usually quiet; on weekends the cellars open up and winemakers invite you to taste right among the barrels.

If you’re biking, head out in the morning. In the afternoon you can get off at a cellar and leave the rest of the day to the wine.

  • The Maják lookout tower above the vineyards, with views of the Nové Mlýny reservoirs and Pálava.
  • Wine cellars and cellar lanes, where winemakers pour their own wine.
  • The Nové Mlýny reservoirs, a large body of water that gave the land below Pálava a new outline.
  • Field paths and bike trails between the vineyards, which you can follow further toward Pálava.

What to See

These places are also the points our game is built around. Walk the loop and you’ll see Zaječí and Přítluky from their best side.

If you have more time, head further south and west. People go to Pálava for the views from its limestone cliffs and for the castle ruins. Lednice draws visitors with the chateau and park of the Liechtensteins. Mikulov is the nearest town, with a historic center, a chateau and Svatý kopeček (Holy Hill).

Pálava and Mikulov have their own games, Treasure Hunt Pálava and Treasure Hunt Mikulov. That means a weekend below Pálava can be built from several games, each day in a different landscape.

  • U Kapličky winery in Zaječí: seating in the middle of the vineyards, where you taste wine looking out over the vine rows.
  • Zajíci ze Zaječí family winery: a family business whose name is a play on the village’s name.
  • Maják lookout tower: the spot where you take in the whole landscape at once, from the reservoirs to the Pálava ridge.
  • The village green and church in Přítluky: the quieter half of the trip, where you can catch your breath after the winery stops.

History of the Villages

Zaječí and Přítluky have lived off wine for as long as anyone remembers. The vineyards here aren’t a backdrop for tourists but a livelihood, and the cellars behind the houses show it at first glance.

Great noble families also shaped the land around them. The Liechtensteins resided in Lednice and Valtice and spent centuries creating parks, ponds and small structures across the landscape. Mikulov belonged to the Dietrichsteins.

The biggest change came in the socialist era, when the Nové Mlýny reservoirs were built on the Dyje. The water flooded the floodplain forests, and the village of Mušov disappeared beneath the surface; all that’s left is its church on a small island in the middle of the reservoir.

Today the water belongs to the local landscape as naturally as the vineyards. From Maják you can see both at once.

A Company Outing Below Pálava

Treasure Hunt Zaječí leads teams through both villages: past the U Kapličky winery, to the Zajíci ze Zaječí family winery, up the Maják lookout tower and into downtown Přítluky.

You play on tablets or phones with our GPS app. The team sees all the treasures on the on-screen map at once and chooses the order itself, so strategy starts right at the start line.

The questions are tied directly to each spot, so you’ll only find the answer in the field. The winner isn’t the smartest or the fastest team, but the most patient and observant one.

You can book the game as a self-guided game or with full-service event management, where instructors arrive with tablets and run the whole event. The game has no capacity limit; it handles a small team as well as a company-wide event. The program can be extended with physical activities in the field, so the vineyards get you moving, not just thinking.

Certainty is part of every booking. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the program goes ahead on the original date as a story-driven game in indoor mode, in the hall or restaurant you’ve already booked.

For a longer corporate program, the neighboring Treasure Hunt Pálava and Treasure Hunt Mikulov are close at hand.
